How to beat Rodin, The Infinite One, in Bayonetta 2

Bayonetta 3 is nearing its release date given October 28, 2022, and maybe like most of us, we are having a hard time defeating one of the most difficult optional bosses of gaming history. Rodin will test your patience and do not expect to beat him on the first try. If you are looking for guide how to beat Rodin on first Bayonetta game, then go to “How to easily beat The Infinite One, Father Rodin, in Bayonetta

First thing, to fight Rodin, you have to accumulate 10 million halos, though I didn’t notice since playing through all difficulties of Bayonetta, you’ll passively gain lots of halos. Just keep those combos and multipliers high. You’ll find that you can buy the Platinum Ticket on Rodin’s Treasure. Buying this ticket will trigger the cinematic and intro to battle.

Rodin is a “Random BS Go” type of enemy, with two sets of attacks. In phase 1 on his Human form, you’ll notice most attacks have the same concept as Bayonetta with lots of Wicked Weaves. Phase 2 attack is a faster phase battle with one attack in particular that needs to be addressed. When you see Devil forms Rodin fly and have a glowing hand, prepare to dodge, since the attack will leave only 1 HP, and he also may re-attempt the attack on his last health bar, but faster without delay animation.

Practice Dodge and Blocking / Parry

Looking forward to defeating Rodin, I cannot stress this enough. Keep practicing. Practice Dodge and practice Blocking (Using Link’s Costume or Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa). Some attacks are better dodged especially the aerial ones, while you also need instant reaction since blocking is faster. Pressing L towards the source of attack will make Rodin stagger, and it will leave him open to one or two punches. As I said, do not rely on blocking only, or dodging only.

Witch hearts and Moon Pearls

Max out your life and magic by completing all Broken Witch hearts and Broken Moon Pearls. One move Witch heart and additional Moon pearl could mean the difference between victory or defeat. Having max health will give you the confidence to receive one or two hits. Don’t sweat it, winning against Rodin with 1 HP left is still a victory.

Camera Angle Challenges

There is also another passive enemy on top of Rodin in this battle. It is the camera angle. The view will not always be in your favor. Practice changing the view and camera angle instantly and also practice fighting with multiple camera angles. Losing Rodin in your view may mean defeat.

Not so Useful Skills

Turn off the Crow Within and Umbran Spear. I suggest this because this special is very slow. Accidentally triggering the skill may cause you to lose momentum and get stuck in the air flying like an idiot. You can turn off the skill from the weapon wheel menu, press X, then move to Special Tab, and scroll down to the bottom.

Character and Accessories

My choice of Character here is Rosa for more damage. The faster you beat Rodin, the less time you need to block and dodge. Rosa does have sensitive skin and can die with 3 hits only even with a full Witch Heart, but as I said earlier, plan not to get hit using dodge and blocking. The choice of accessories is Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa for obvious reason and Infernal Communicator. Block a lot using Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa if you have a good camera angle, though do dodge when unsure of direction. Infernal Communicator works so well in this battle. Even losing Rodin on view, you can still do damage, Just be very careful to time the summon. Preferably summon during Witch Time only or Rodin for some reason decided to walk, but stay alert for an instant attack. Dodging Rodin’s instant kill also gives window time to summon the Infernals. Do the summon on phase 2, and this is where Moon pearl takes place. Work with whatever you’ve gathered from phase 1, and when you already summoned the Infernals, go ape-sh*t on the attack but be mindful of dodges and blocks.

Final Words

Last additional tips. Sometimes you need to take a break. If it took days or weeks, it’s okay. Also, drink coffee. Just do it.

After Beating Rodin, you’ll be able to unlock Bewitchment, Gallery and Rodin (Weapon).

And you can do it all over again for free.

Hope this helps to beat Rodin and good luck Witches!
